Blizzard is killing me these days, releasing a new Hearthstone expansion last week and now a new Overwatch holiday this week. But I will do my duty and shell out on day one (hour one) for 100 new loot boxes so you can see what you might get, and how often you might get it.
This is Overwatch’s first holiday event that is…not tied to an actual holiday. Previously, Blizzard said that they would not be doing St. Patrick’s Day/Easter events, and instead, this “Overwatch: Uprising” event is an entirely original creation, one that flashes back to glory days of Overwatch when the team was still together and hadn’t been cast to the wind like we’ve seen in present day, before Winston recalled them.
An introductory comic gave us hints about what skins we might see for this event, which includes a lot of original Overwatch/Blackwatch uniforms, and set up the Uprising itself, an Omnics-run-wild event that looks to be PvE content that was just released in today’s update.
I will get to that in a bit, but first, it’s time to crack open some boxes. I swear I spent more time skin-collecting in Overwatch than I do playing these days, but I can’t help it, these skins are just that damn good, every time.
Alright, here goes:
Sprays – 24
Voice Lines – 28
Icons – 28
Victory Poses – 12
Emotes – 8
Highlight Intros – 6
Epic Skins – 1, 1x Reinhardt
Uprising Legendary Skins – 7, 1x Mercy, 1x, McCree, 1x Torb, 2x Alt Torb, 2x Orissa
Old Legendary Skins – 7
Gold from duplicates – 6,800
Alright, so, not a bad haul, despite the fact that I missed out the two skins I had to have, Talon Widowmaker and Blackwatch Genji, but I got enough gold to buy them outright at the end. All in all I got 14 legendary skins (no gold piles) out of 100 boxes, which is a pretty damn good ratio, as the average is usually around one in ten. And the event is weighted so half of those were new skins, and I only had two duplicates. Not bad, and a hell of a lot better than my recent Hearthstone luck.
